UEFA Champions League: Groups A,B,C and D review:

After last night games, we found out eight teams that are going into the next round of UEFA Champions league, tonight we are going to find out the last eight that will be going into the next round.

Group A:

Before the last round Atletico was the only club that secured the next round phase, Juventus and Olympiakos would battle for second place. In Torino Juventus was playing Against Atletico Madrid, in pretty boring game Juventus was dominating with 67% – 33% ball possession. Game end with peacefully 0-0 enough to secure Atletico first and Juventus second place.

In Athens, Olympiakos Piraeus was hoping that Atletico could beat Juventus and that they will have a chance for second place. In rather strange game Olympiakos manage to beat Malmo by 4-2. In 22’ Fuster header give home side a lead, score didn’t change until 59’ when Simon Kroon scored for 1-1 after a good fast break. But only four minutes later Dominguez score second goal for Olympiakos. Markus Rosenberg scores a new equalizer in 81’ after a good cross from Tinnerholm. In the last 10 minutes spectators saw two more goals and one red card. First in 87’ Mitroglou scored from a close range after a corner kick, in 90’ Afellay scored fourth goal for Olympiakos after a good fast break. In 93’ Kofi Adu gets a second yellow card after a bad foul.

Group B:

In group b Real Madrid already secure next stage as number one, for the second place we saw a battle between Liverpool and Basel on Anfield.

Liverpool need a win to secure second place, everything else would kick them out of the next stage. Liverpool got the possession but overall impression was that they start to play a little too late in the game. Basel comes into the lead in 25’ with a good shot from Fabian Frei just outside the box. In 61’ Lazar Markovi
c gets a red card after a bad foul on Behrang Safari. In 81’ Steven Gerrard scored the equalizer after magnificent free kick, until the end Liverpool tried to score another but Basel defense successful repeal all tries from Liverpool.

In Madrid Real secure another safe win against Ludogorets 4-0, scorers for Real were C. Ronaldo (20’), G. Bale (38’), A. Arbeloa (79’) and A. Medran (88’).

Group C:

Most interesting group last night was definitely group c, we got three teams that where in two point’s difference.
Monaco and Zenit played for direct entry into the next phase. First half didn’t have a lot of chances; in 63’ Abdennour header after a set piece situation take a home side into the lead, just before the final whistle Fabinho scored second goal for Monaco.

Game between Benfica and Bayer Leverkusen end in a draw, both of teams had their chances but probably the best chance of the game was in 11’ when Lima shot hit the bar.

Group D:

Before the last round we already know what clubs will be going into the next round, only thing that wasn’t sure was from what positions they will be going.

Arsenal demolishes Galatasaray in Turk Telekom Arena, at the halftime it was already big 3-0 for Arsenal. Lukas Podolski gets Arsenal into the lead in 3’ of the game, only eight minutes later Aaron Ramsey scored second goal for Arsenal. Same players scored third goal for Arsenal in 29’. In second half Galatasaray was team with the chances but they couldn’t find a way behind Szczesny back. In 88’ Sneijder scored for Galatasaray from a free kick, but only four minutes later Lukas Podolski scored his second and team fourth goal for in this game.

Borussia Dortmund lost two points and first spot in this round. At Westfalen they manage to get only 1-1 against Anderlecht. Borussia was a better team but until 58’ score didn’t change, then Ciro Immobile score for 1-0. In 84’ Aleksandar Mitrovic header shot get behind Langerak back for final score 1-1.
