Today featured the final fixture of the UEFA Champions League Semi-Finals to see who faces Real Madrid in the final. The first round game between Roma and Liverpool was an action packed tie with a total of 7 goals being scored with Liverpool coming ahead by 5 goals to 2. However fans of Roma will be quick to point out their fantastic comeback vs. Barcelona in the previous round.

Liverpool began the first half very strong with a very aggressive style of play which resulted in Mane scoring a goal just 9 minutes into the game following a mistake by Roma who gifted Liverpool the ball and allowed them to setup a goal opportunity. Despite the fantastic start Liverpool’s sloppy defending lead to an own goal for Roma as a clearance from Liverpool went horribly wrong and ended with James Milner heading the ball into his own goal. Liverpools aggressive play continued throughout the first half with an additional goal by Wijnaldum through a well-timed header in the 26th minute to make it 2-1 in favour of Liverpool.

The second half saw Roma come back strong but struggling to get a goal, their constant pressure and dominant possession based play in the second half rewarded them with a goal in the 52nd minute with a fantastic powerful strike which Karius was not able to keep out of the net. All looked lost for Roma but they scored again in the 86th minute with a goal by Nianggolan and then a further goal by Nianggolan in extra time. Roma was however unable to get another goal to even the score despite Liverpool being visible exhausted and struggling.

The finals of the UEFA Champions League will take place between Real Madrid & Liverpool will take place on Saturday the 26th of May with a kick-off time of 19:45 UTC+0 time.
