Premiership is one more time biggest spender in transfer window

Soccer News:

One more transfer window is over, this time without any big transfers. There were a lot of rumors about possible big player moves like Cristian Ronaldo to Manchester City or Lionel Messi to Paris Saint Germain but at the end they remain only rumors.

Biggest spenders in winter transfer window are clubs from Premiership; they spent around €170 million, which is €130 million lower than record winter transfer window in season 2010/2011. Behind England clubs are Italian clubs who spent €75 million and German clubs with €62 million. Spain clubs spent €55 Million and France clubs spent “only” €32 million.

If we add summer and winter transfers than England clubs have new record they spent €1.2 billion on transfer fees, which is €200 million more than last year. One of reason for such a “bad shopping” in winter transfer window is probably that clubs spent a lot in summer.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea spent the most in England; these three clubs spent €83 million. Cote d’Ivoire attacker Wilfried Bony is most expensive players this winter, he moved from Swansea to Manchester City for €37 million. Jose Mourinho was trying whole winter transfer window to sign Juan Cuadrad from Fiorentina and in last hours of winter transfer window he succeeded for €30 million. Arsenal strengthens their defense line with Brazil player Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal for €12 million.

Biggest transfers in Seria A are coming from Roma and Napoli. Roma manages to sign Cote d’Ivoire attacker Seydou Doumbia from CSKA Moscow for €14.40 million and Sampdoria right-wing Manolo Gabbiadini moved to Napoli for €12.5 million.

Andre Schurrle return to Bundesliga with the biggest transfer in Bundesliga, his return Wolfsburg had to pay €23 million to Chelsea. Second biggest transfer in Bundesliga is from young Slovenian Kevin Kampl who join Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg for €12 million.

Argentina midfielder Enzo Perez is most expensive transfer in Primera Division, Valencia had to pay €25 million to Benfica for this transfer. With the rumors that Luka Modric could go back to Premiership in summer Real Madrid bought young Brazilian defensive midfielder Lucas Silva from Cruzerio for €13 million.

In France Ligue 1 biggest transfer is from Portugal offensive midfielder Bernardo Silva who move from Benfica to Monaco for €15.75 million, on second place is young Swedish player Isaac Thelin who change Malmo for Bordeaux for €3.5 million.
