This made the 18th of November a very heated day for football!

Saturday 18th November Premier League Results:

Arsenal 2 – 0 Tottenham

The first football match of the day saw Tottenham play away at Arsenal and with just four points separating the two teams this was definitely the match of the day! Tottenham were the underdogs in this game despite being above Arsenal in the English Premier League standings as they have a miserable record when playing at the Emirates Stadium – Arsenals home ground. Arsenal from the start of the match looked firmly in control, dominating in every area of the pitch to win plenty of space to make chances. In the 37th tempers heated as a free kick was awarded to Arsenal which was a questionable decision by referee Mike Dean penalized Spurs defender Davinson Sanchez for a challenge on Alexis Sanchez, however it looked as if Alexis was offside. This free-kick setup a headed goal by Arsenals German defender – Shkodran Mustafi. The controversy was compounded as Mustafi also looked to be offside. Arsenal continued to pile on the woes for the away Tottenham fans as Alexis Sanchez scored a goal in the 41th minute.

Tottenham did threaten to score throughout the rest of the game but with their star striker Harry Kane looking to have fitness issues after England’s international fixtures, today’s loss makes Tottenham have just 1 win in 12 games at the Emirates Stadium, a record Tottenham fans will want to forget before their next fixture.

Despite the one sided scoreline the match-stats were quite even with Tottenham looking to be ahead in some areas after a resurgence in the second half, with Arsenal ending up with just 42% of possession, both sides getting 14 shots and Arsenal leading 5 to 4 in shots on target, full match stats and lineup can be seen below:

Bournemouth 4 – 0 Huddersfield Town

The second match of the day saw 10th place Huddersfield Town face 17th place Bournemouth and it was a very one sided game, but was not what everyone expected as Huddersfield were the odd-on favorites by far to win!

Bournemouth first hit the back of the net in the 26th minute with a fantastic header by Callum Wilson. Wilson then scored a second goal 5 minutes later in the 31st minute by eating Huddersfield’s offside trap, giving him a clear run on goal, a chance that he did not waste. It was looking like Huddersfield could turn around the scoreline when in the 45th minute when Simon Francis was sent off following a bad foul on Rajiv van La Parra, this was his second foul of the game and the referee had no choice but to show him his second yellow card. Huddersfield at this time dominated possession but were still struggling to get a goal. Harry Arter destroyed any hopes of Huddersfield rescuing any points from the game with a 70th minute goal and Wilson got a hat-trick with his 3rd goal of the game in the 84th minute.

This was not the result Huddersfield fans were expecting during this game, with Huddersfield having an excellent run of form up until this game, and dominating the majority of possession throughout the game, this loss dropped them out of the top 10 into 11th position.

The match began miserably for Man United who went a goal down early due to a mistake from Man United defender Victor Lindelof slipped and let Newcastle’s Dwight Gayle past him to score off the post. Manchester United took their time to get back to a level ground but when they did they soon fired in many more goals leading to a one-sided conclusion to the match favoring Man United.
