EPL – Premier League Updates:
For a team that has been scathed with injuries so far this season, Arsenal have done pretty well to mitigate the threat that came their way after these injuries. Sitting at 6th in the table 2 points behind the 4th spot and 5 points behind 20time Premier League Champions Manchester United, Arsenal will travel to Anfield on Saturday to avenge the misery Liverpool inflicted them in last season.
Last time when both of these sides met at Anfield, Liverpool routed Arsenal with a 5-1 thumping win
Last time when both of these sides met in the Premier League at Anfield, game was over within 20 minutes as the magic of Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling epitomized that day. While Arsenal were contending for title that day and Liverpool were looking to enhance their push for the 4th spot, a victory to the hosts Liverpool changed the scenario altogether.
Almost a year from that fixture when both of these sides will go head to head on Sunday, neither of them will be enjoying the same status they envisaged last season before this match. While Arsenal will be looking to move to 4th spot with a win over a visibly distraught Liverpool, a win for the hosts can restart the journey to the top for Liverpool side.
However as far as Arsenal are concerned, the gunners have been handed a much needed injury boost as two of their injured players are back in contention for this match. And with festive period almost upon English Premier League, the return of injured players will be a much needed boost for the team.
Theo Walcott is on the list of those returning as Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has confirmed. However as he came back to full training back on Thursday, it will be worth looking that whether or not Arsene Wenger takes him to Liverpool with the squad.
Alex Chamberlain is on the list as well amongst those players that have returned in time for training to be considered for the Liverpool clash. Although the Englishman played full 90 minutes last Saturday in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Newcastle, he was injured in buildup of this match but now as reports coming out of Arsenal camp suggests, the Englishman could make the starting 11 against Liverpool.
