England Premier League R19: 28/12/2014, Sunday 15:00GMT West Ham vs. Arsenal, Match Preview

England Premier League News:

One more interesting game of England Premiership R19 will be without doubt London derby between West Ham and Arsenal.

If Arsenal manages to beat West Ham and Southampton loss against Chelsea that could launch Arsenal on fourth place on the Premier League table. Also if West Ham would win and Southampton loss, then they could go back on fourth place on the table.

West Ham Team Info:

West Ham lost in last round against Chelsea, but that is not a big deal if we know that Chelsea didn’t lost one game this season at their Stamford Bridge. Maybe what is more trouble for West Ham fans are that their team didn’t make any big chances in that game, they were defending most of the time.

Diafra Sakho is club best scorer, he scored seven goals from only nine appearances and behind him are Stewart Downing with four and Andy Carroll who scored three goals so far. Veteran Stewart Downing is club best assistant with six assist, far behind him are Aaron Cresswell and Carl Jenkinson with two assists. Defender James Tomkins is club best ranting player this season, behind him are Andy Carroll and Stewart Downing.

West Ham doesn’t have a problem in creating goal chances, which are their major strengths. But in the last game we didn’t saw that, they were cut off.  Major weakness for West Ham is trying to hold on the ball for a longer period of time and their defense has a problem with players with high individual skills. That could mean that Sanchez and Welbeck could make havoc in West Ham defense.

For this game Sam Allardyce don’t have any injured players, maybe only James Tomkins is under question mark for this game. West Ham is mostly using 4-1-2-1-2 or 4-3-1-2:

Adrian – Jenkinson, Collins, Reid, Cresswell – Noble, Song, Amalfitano – Downing- Carroll, Sakho

Arsenal Team Info:

Arsenal had a bad start in this season and win in this game could give their fans a new hope. They are still far away from fighting for the Premier League title, but at least they will be in the group of clubs that fight for UEFA Champions League.

Arsenal can solve a lot of things in next two rounds, since after this game they will face Southampton one more club that is direct involved in the fight for UEFC Champions League. If they manage to win in both of these games that would be a huge morale boost not only for their fans but also for their players.

Ex Barcelona player Alexis Sanchez is club best scorer with 10 goals, Olivier Giroud is behind him with five but from only five appearances. Alexis Sanchez is also best club assistant with six assist, Santi Cazorla is behind him with three and Aaron Ramsey is on third place with two assist so far. We don’t have to say that Alexis Sanchez is also club best ranting player this season in front of Mathieu Debuchy and Santi Cazorla.

Like in previous round and season Arsenal is looking more like hospital then like football club. Arsen Wenger got currently four players on injured list and two are under question mark. Mesut Ozil, Mikel Arteta, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey are on injured list while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Yaya Sanogo are under question mark for this game. Olivier Giroud is suspended after fighting in the last round against Queens Park Rangers.

Wenger is mostly using 4-2-3-1 tactic and in some rare occasions 4-1-4-1:

Szczesny – Chambers, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Gibbs – Flamini, Coquelin – Sanchez, Rosicky, Cazorla – Welbeck

Head-To-Head:

West Ham and Arsenal clash 113 times, Arsenal is much better with 54 wins while West Ham got only 27 wins, 32 games end in draw. If we take a look only at games played at Boleyn ground then from 57 games West Ham got 14 wins, Arsenal is at 24 wins and 19 games end in draw.

Last six games at home ground are pretty straight forward Arsenal got 5 wins and only one game end in draw. Last time West Ham manage to beat Arsenal was 07/04/2007 when B. Zamora scored for West Ham.
